Gold Fang Drops Playful New Single: Badness Issa Habit

Gold Fang Drops Playful New Single: Badness Issa Habit

Trinidadian-born and Eora / Sydney-based artist Gold Fang returns with a new single, Badness Issa Habit out via NLV Records.

Returning with the same rebellious spirit and razor-sharp bars as showcased in his debut mixtape SMOOVE KILLA, released in March this year, Gold Fang has teamed up with UK-based producer Danio and longtime collaborator Swick.

The trio delivers a hybrid palette of UK grime and reggae on ‘Badness Issa Habit’. Written on a recent trip to the UK, made possible with CreateNSW Funding, the track traverses minimal and eclecticism and highlights Gold Fang’s trademark high-energy confidence on full display, diving deep between playful percussive fills and grittier basslines.

Best put in his own words:The title itself is a statement. For me, badness is a habit. And when I say badness… that doesn’t necessarily mean to be a gangster or to be evil. I walk with badness. I’m proud to be bad! Bad is most often viewed as a negative thing, when I’m reality the term can be used in different ways. Like saying yow the person is baaaaaaad u know ain’t nobody can touch that person. That’s how I feel. I feel like me, as a person it’s good to be humble. I am a very humble person but I feel like when I get into my element which is like the studio or the stage I feel like yo I’m untouchable I’m bad BADNESS ISSA HABIT. EMBRACE THAT.”

Badness Issa Habit’ is the latest solo release from Gold Fang since his debut mixtape, SMOOVE KILLA, a 15-track project that explored Gold Fang’s identity, culture, talent, and community. Accumulating acclaim across triple j, triple j Unearthed, FBi Radio, 3RRR and tastemakers including NME Australia, The Guardian, VICE, Acclaim Magazine, Red Bull and Music Feeds, Gold Fang continues to cement his position at the forefront of the thriving Afro-Caribbean space.

2023 continued to celebrate Gold Fang’s momentum as a touring artist, having supported international heavy-hitters Lil Nas X, Fire Boy DML and J Balvin, play iconic festivals including SXSW Sydney, Field DaySplendour in the Grass and Promiseland, co-headline shows across New Zealand and Australia with JessB, and soon a tour run alongside SAFIA.
