Seinabo Sey x COLORSxStudios: THE ONE AFTER ME

Seinabo Sey joins forces with COLORSxStudios, the unique aesthetic performance platform known for its focus on showcasing exceptional artists from all around the globe.

This unique collaboration brings forth a deeper exploration of Sey’s highly-anticipated new album THE ONE AFTER ME released May 26th, with an eponymous short film. THE ONE AFTER ME was released May 26th and is Seinabo Sey’s first album in five years.

As Sey returned with new music, it was as an artist who has found her way back to herself and what drew her to music in the first place, as well as the freedom to create on her own terms.

When the world isolated itself during the pandemic, the music studio became the safe place where Seinabo could create music without pressure. This change is reflected in the album’s 14 tracks, which Sey describes as the biggest musical turning point in her career. Through COLORSxStudios, Sey further expands on the narrative and artistic importance of THE ONE AFTER ME.

“It’s a great honor to have collaborated with COLORS on this piece, to have these pictures and stories accompany and in many ways complete this album is a dream come true. The chapters perfectly illuminate the biggest lesson that I learned making this music, it’s a story about responsibility, forgiveness and love. Making this is a memory that I will cherish forever”, says Seinabo Sey.

The collaboration not only sees a second COLORS SHOW performance by Sey, but also a completely new format: a short film that delves into the themes and inspiration that brought the new album into fruition. As the first artist to be featured in this innovative way, the collaboration promises to be a powerful and captivating experience for fans of Sey’s music and newcomers alike.

“We worked with Seinabo when she first appeared on A COLORS SHOW in 2019. Since then, we’ve been so inspired by her journey as an artist, and were excited to work with her on this film to help her dive deeper into the narratives and imagery her music conjures”, says Felix Glasmeyer, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of COLORSxStudios

Seinabo Sey is the proud owner of four Swedish Grammys, the first for Best Newcomer in 2015. That same year, she released her critically acclaimed debut album Pretend, which went gold in Sweden. Her hit single Younger, which was later remixed by Kygo, gained international attention.

With over 400 million global Spotify streams, Seinabo’s sincere storytelling and expressive vocals have garnered her a large and enthusiastic audience. On her follow-up album, I’m a Dream, we got to follow her autobiographical lyrics through tracks like I Owe You Nothing, where she fearlessly addressed grief, femininity, racial identity, and body image, an album that earned her five Grammy nominations and where she won two. Seinabo has performed at festivals such as Way Out West, Glastonbury, and Roskilde.
