Lila Drew Releases Debut Single ‘Faded/2am’ Featuring Goldlink
What started as a voice memo on her iPhone when en route to the recording studio one evening has quickly become one of the most intimate and soulful songs to emerge in 2018.
Co-produced with Michael “Mighty Mike” McGarity (Lana Del Rey, FKA twigs, Miguel among others) and mixed by Grammy Award-winning Derek “Mixed by Ali” (SZA, Kendrick Lamar), ‘faded/2am’ is a stunning, minimalistic R&B jam, featuring the critically acclaimed American rapper Goldlink.
“Lila is one of the most refreshing new voices in music, and I jumped at the opportunity to work together on her new single.” Explained the Grammy-nominated artist. ‘I’m beyond excited for the world to hear it.”
What started as a voice memo on her iPhone when en route to the recording studio one evening has quickly become one of the most intimate and soulful songs to emerge in 2018. On the collaboration, 18-year-old London-born Lila reveals. “Goldlink has always been one of my favorite rappers. I love the intersection of jazz, hip-hop and dance in his music and was blown away when he heard my music and agreed to collaborate. He really understood what the song needed and brought it to life.”

“Your eyes they cut right through the edge/Of my boredom and order, obsessive disorders/and trying to fight but these feelings won’t hide anymore,” sings the preternaturally wise teenage singer/songwriter on her debut single, the first of several new songs she’ll be unveiling from her forthcoming debut EP.
Lila has come along to jolt us from our slumber, while taking her musical influences and turning them into something fresh, sophisticated, and above all else, authentic. Lila’s musical introduction is both ambitious and wide-ranging; a mix of indie, R&B, hip-hop, and pop, etched with the vulnerability and insight in her lyrics plucked right out of her diary.
Mostly autobiographical, Lila Drew’s music is a road map for wending her way from childhood innocence to the responsibilities of adulthood, a pathway marking her own busy life, as a 18-year-old high school senior who dreams of going to college while at the same time writing, producing and creating music in her bedroom that has gotten her recognized faster than she could have ever imagined.
Lila Drew is currently working on her debut EP set for release in early 2019.
