Cool Down This Summer With The Embr Wave Revolutionary Bracelet
Embr Labs is on a mission to help thermally underserved people feel more comfortable by harnessing the power of personalized temperature.
The company’s revolutionary bracelet, Embr Wave, heats or cools temperature-sensitive skin on your wrist, making you feel colder or warmer in minutes.
The summer may seem hot outside, but too often indoor spaces can be downright frigid. Offices, malls, airplanes, movie theaters, cars, homes – countless spaces are consumed by air conditioning during the summer months, creating arctic environments that require sweaters indoors and tank-tops outdoors. Embr wave provides a solution to these drastic temperature differences.
Embr Wave is a bracelet that can make you feel five degrees colder or six degrees warmer after only three minutes of use – it immediately recreates the comforting warmth of hands by the fire or the refreshing chill of an ice cube on your wrist. As the device is specific to who is wearing it, someone feeling cold in an office can warm up fast, while another person who is running hot can cool down quickly.
In a study funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation, researchers from U.C. Berkeley validated that the Embr Wave technology makes people more comfortable in everyday scenarios through precisely engineered waves of warmth and cold. According to principal researcher Hui Zhang, Ph.D.: “Embr Wave surprised our lab’s entire research team who specialize in thermal physiology and comfort. We did not expect a device so small to have this kind of measurable impact on the user’s thermal comfort.”
“People interested in lightweight warming or cooling on-demand can now feel comfortable, even when in a freezing office during a sweltering day,” says Sam Shames, co-founder of Embr Labs. “By simply pressing a button, you can feel better, be more relaxed, and work more efficiently as Embr Wave makes you warmer or cooler depending on your specific body.”
The hugely successful Kickstarter campaign for Embr Wave raised over $600,000, more than 6x the campaign’s goal of $100,000. Bose Ventures and Intel Capital have invested in the company as well. Embr Wave costs $299, is available in metallic gray, and ships with a charging cable, microfiber pouch, and adjustable bracelet.
