Crisp vegetables, fragrant herbs and sun-ripened fruits are finally in season – and there’s no better way to enjoy them than on the grill, where fresh ingredients come together to create vibrant, flavourful meals all summer long.
“Grilling naturally brings out the vibrant flavours of fresh, seasonal ingredients,” says Garry Scott, Vice President of Marketing at Napoleon. “It’s one of the best ways to enjoy everything this time of year has to offer – bold flavours, fresh air and good company.”

Napoleon shares the following tips to bring your fresh finds to life on the grill:
- Go local and in-season: Fresh produce is at its peak – from sweet corn and juicy tomatoes to zucchini, colourful peppers, peaches and even watermelon, all bursting with flavour and made even better on the grill. Their natural flavours caramelize, intensifying flavour with every bite.
- Grill your greens: Don’t stop at traditional vegetables. Heartier leafy greens like romaine or kale can handle the heat – just a quick grill adds smoky character and crispy edges, turning simple greens into standout sides.
- Herbs and citrus over sauces: Elevate your marinades with chopped herbs, squeezed citrus, garlic and olive oil. Not only do these ingredients feel fresher than store-bought sauces, but they also bring bright, punchy flavour that complements the natural taste of your main.
- Asparagus reinvented: Asparagus is one of spring’s earliest gifts. A quick char brings out its earthy flavour and tender-crisp texture, making it the perfect addition to any grilled meal.
- Fruit for dessert: Grill-stamped fruit is the ultimate way to end a summer meal. Think peaches, pineapple or apple slices caramelized twist on dessert. Serve solo or with a scoop of frozen yogurt for an indulgent finish.
“When you cook with ingredients that are fresh and in season, you don’t have to do much to make them shine,” says Scott. “Grilling brings out their natural flavour and makes every gathering feel a little more special.”
