Streaming giants Amazon Prime Video and Netflix are battling for the crown.
According to a recent report, Amazon Prime Video now has more paid subscribers in the United States than Netflix. But the mobile apps tell a slightly different story…

Here’s what we found…
- Netflix Still Dominates on Google Play
- Netflix Leads on the App Store, but Disney+ Is Nipping at Its Heels
- Netflix Has More Monthly Active Users Than Amazon, Disney, and Hulu
Netflix Still Dominates on Google Play
This chart depicts daily U.S. downloads for the Android versions of Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, and Hulu. In particular, these numbers come from the period between January 1st, 2022 and December 9th, 2022.
As you can see, Netflix leads Prime Video by a sizable margin, having tallied 22,618,376 downloads in 2022 compared to Prime Video’s 7,558,762.
In fact, Amazon’s streaming service actually places third on Google Play. It’s six million downloads short of Disney+ (13,384,362 downloads) and five hundred thousand ahead of Hulu (7,014,306).

Netflix holds a lead here as well, but it’s a slim one. While the streaming giant has registered a market-best 23,399,874 downloads, Disney+ has ginned up a whopping 22,245,381 downloads. Indeed, Amazon Prime Video (14,553,527) once again finds itself in third place, just eclipsing Hulu (13,257,550).
