When was the last time you dedicated over 400 hours to something?

A new study finds the longest video game to beat, New Leaf, takes gamers 469 hours on average!

And that’s not all. In the past two years, it now takes 61% more time to beat a game.

Solitaired analyzed more than 1,300 video games over 30 years. Here’s what they found:

  • In 2021, games took less than 40 hours to beat on average, now its up to 66 hours.
  • In 2022 games took 41 hours to beat on average. In two years, that’s a 61% increase of time.
  • Gamers generally like long games. Out of the top 20 longest games on our list, just four have an average player rating below 80%
  • Turn-based, role-playing, and simulation are the three longest genres on average.
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf; Animal Crossing: New Horizons; and Path of Exile are the three games that take the longest to beat.
