Is It Ever Too Early to Think About the End of Our Lives?

Many people consider it to be such a morbid topic that they don’t even entertain the thought.

But there will be times in our lives when we are exposed to the subject of death, whether it’s losing our first pet or somebody from our old school passing away.

Is it ever too early to think about the end of our lives? The fact is that it is a conversation that should be had, but what are the most productive ways to start thinking about this subject?

    Consider Your Funeral Arrangements

Some people have it all mapped out in their heads, but others won’t entertain the idea. If you were to shuffle off this mortal coil tomorrow, what would you leave behind? Maybe it would be a lot of bills and debt. It pays to think about your funeral, not just so your loved ones aren’t lumped with a major bill if you were to pass away, but the fact is that funerals are expensive affairs. Some people opt for cremations, and while cremation costs are different to a standard funeral service, you should still have some idea of how you want to bid goodbye to this world.

It Helps You Assess How You View the World

There’s so much wisdom referring to “living each day as if it were your last,” which is a mighty fine idea in theory, but we all have jobs to go to and responsibilities in life. But having a conversation about death and what would happen if you were to have your last day on this earth today can help you look at life from a totally different perspective. If you were to shuffle off this mortal coil tomorrow, you would view everything you’ve done in this life differently.

Sometimes thinking about what would happen if we were to fast forward a number of decades can help us make the most of what we’ve got right now. Part of the reason we don’t want to talk about this stuff is because we’re scared of it happening, but it also can make us bitterly regret so many things in our lives. There is a reason why we shouldn’t sweat the small stuff, and the fact is that if we were to leave this earth tomorrow, then we’d spent so much time and energy thinking negatively about certain things that, in fact, we might believe we’ve wasted so much of our lives. This is why thinking about death can give you a new fan perspective to start making those changes now.

It Helps You to Change for the Better Now

So many people who have near-death experiences find themselves making so many different changes to their lives. We can be obsessed with living longer, but when we’ve been exposed to death, whether it’s a near-death experience or losing a loved one, it makes us recognize that we are the ones that have the power to make changes for the better.

Lots of people go through life feeling twisted and bitter, and this doesn’t achieve anything. If you want to make changes to your life, it’s worth looking at the end of your life and working backwards.
