Indie Alt-Pop Bay-Area Artist Krafty Announces His ‘Serpents’ Album & Song: Fun Fact
Bay Area-based indie alt-pop lyricist Krafty’s upcoming single “Fun Fact” is out now.
“Fun Fact” is the first single off Krafty’s upcoming album Serpents through Say-Da Records and Orchard Distribution, following the release of “Hexes for Exes,” and makes up what is slated to be his most personal project to date.
In the forthcoming album Serpents (set to release in early 2023), the project pulses the emotions that one goes through when dealing with failed friendships and relationships.
Splashing you with hints of lofi, R&B, trip-hop, and pop “Fun Fact” conveys a theme that dances between that passion and possession. An undeniable sense of vulnerability and introspection as Krafty addresses themes of lust and impulsivities that are so often familiar to the young in love.
Krafty’s body of work and style can best be described as:
“A lyrical, emotionally centered artist. Intense and articulate.”
“Fun Fact” opens with a punk-infused bass guitar riff that is coated by ambient textures. The intro progresses into a hazy veil of dreamy vocals that will transport listeners into another realm before the hit of Krafty’s clever verses grounds audiences back into the single’s sonic landscape.
“Fun fact // Baby I’ma show up at your place // We making contact // Maybe heavens just a touch away // Now we down bad // Everybody wants what we create // But she’s taken by me.”
“Fun Fact” depicts a story that dances between passion and possession. Lyrically, it ebbs and flows like the rollercoaster of emotions that one goes through when dealing with failed relationships and transient friendships. Krafty addresses the complexities of lust and impulse that are so vital to the experience of young love. The track expands this experience into the context of a larger narrative. Krafty notes the parallels between being both a lover and an artist. Both states of being are those of fiery passion. These kinds of fueled flames can at times feel all-encompassing.
There’s an inevitable need to redirect that energy into creation. This is where “Fun Fact” lies: in the exchange of passion between lovers and creation. “This is a song about how relationships can sometimes be a bit possessive, when you are both each other, that’s it and nothing else matters,” Krafty revealed.
“It’s a polarizing kind of passion that can lead to obsessing over one another. “Fun Fact” draws its parallels of being hot and heavy with someone, to the addiction you get when you are a musician working on a new song or album.”
Krafty’s music is both stylistically and anecdotally a blend of personal experiences, views on social issues, and musings on cultural phenomena that are constantly at the forefront of our culture’s mass consumption. Take for example TikTok and its viral trends— where the track title “Fun Fact” was born.
Krafty is involved in the whole creative process from conception to delivery. He creates genre-defying tracks that leave listeners itching to hit the repeat button. Krafty’s versatility makes him stand out. In just two years, he’s managed to switch between styles and topics fluidly, only highlighting a dynamic future ahead for him. His music is derived from the intersection of multiple demographics. The musical soundscape and range are diverse but the constant is centralized around his “no-nonsense” narration within his lyricism.

The upcoming album Serpents is not intended to be a cohesive concept album with linearity and predictability. Instead, it is meant to depict the true essence of life as a creative, navigating the rhythms of each season and processing pain along the way as it weaves into the cycles of creation. Serpents is a story of the emotional and intimate realities of being an artist. One that allows life, growth, and transformation to unfold authentically, despite the obstacles and hiccups that are imperative to personal evolution and orbiting relationships. What turns a bite of poison into resilience? Krafty is here to tell us.
Listen to “Fun Fact” on all streaming platforms and keep your eye out for Krafty’s serpentine crawl to success.
Why blend in when you don’t have to? Bay Area-based Krafty was born in the melting pot that lies between the south and east side of San Jose where he learned very early on how to fit into various social circles. However, his biggest problem was blending in – he just couldn’t.

As a kid, Krafty was raised on death rock music from the ’80s (Bauhaus, Siouxie, and The Banshees, Cocteau Twins), the jazz sample heavy alt hip-hop of the ’90s like (Tribe Called Quest and the Pharcyde), and the Hip-Hop inspired sub-genre Trip-hop (Portishead, Tricky, and Sneaker Pimps). Krafty found his love for music after high school, as he connected with a friend who used to be the bassist of a high school rock band. The two of them began making music together and were quite inseparable for a period of time, building off of each other’s reservoirs of creativity. This time in his life laid the foundation of Krafty’s current soundscape, a fusion of polar-opposite influences and styles that capture the essence of a diverse background. This merges his sound well with the ever-evolving musical landscape we see today. A modern culture that, just like Krafty, is taking pages from a library of past influences and composing fresh, lively stories. Bridging scenes and unifying subcultures, Krafty pioneers new territories and simply put, is constantly crafting.
