Listen To Hubris: The New Single By Tim Lyre ft. Lex Amor
Nigeria’s Rising Multi-Talented Artist Tim Lyre Taps North London’s Lex Amor For ‘Hubris’ Single.
Set to feature on his forthcoming debut album, ‘Worry <’ (‘worry less’) dropping in March, Nigeria’s multi-talented artist Tim Lyre explores Greek mythology in his latest single, ‘Hubris’, with assistance from North London’s rapper Lex Amor.
Following the release of his latest hotly-tipped release named, ‘Highlife’ alongside Prettyboy DO and Lady Donli, Tim Lyre has returned with a thought-provoking release ahead of his debut album. Nodding to Greek mythology, ‘Hubris’ is a track that aims to encourage confidence on its listeners; paired with a symbolic artwork of Icarus whose wings burned off from flying too close to the sun, Lyre plays on title’s theme of excessive pride and arrogance. Built over laid-back and atmospheric production courtesy of Tim Lyre himself, he sets the tone with his nonchalant flow and slick pen game before later being joined alongside London’s prodigy Lex Amor. Weaving her airy and effortless flow throughout the percussive beat, the pair compliment each other seamlessly on this hazy number. Speaking on the single he commented, “Hubris is one of my personal favorites.
It’s a song to inspire confidence. I had been going through a period of self-doubt. This song kind of reminded me I was on the right path. Also, couldn’t have asked for a better feature than Lex Amor, she was floating on the track.”
Hailing from Lagos, Nigeria, Tim Lyre is a multi-talented singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist that’s been paving a lane with his genre-bending sound. Playing a monumental role in Nigeria’s alté renaissance, it was only a matter of time he would venture out into the vibrant world of music. Growing up in a musical household, Lyre studied classical music from the youthful age of 10; learning how to play the piano and read music, it wasn’t until he got older when he was exposed to sounds including highlife, afrobeats, jazz, R&B, neo-soul, gospel, and more, that he began exploring his own wave.
Having already gained support from the likes of BBC Radio 1Xtra, Native Mag, Triller, Guap Mag, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, Culture Custodian, and more, Lyre has accumulated an ever-growing fan base that’s stretched over several projects including his 2020 EP ‘K.A.P’ with guest features from Shalom Dubas and Mafeni. Not to mention his critically acclaimed project ‘Senpai’ with stand-out singles ‘Fakogbe’ and ‘Hurricane’ alongside MOJO, Tim is gearing supporters up for his highly anticipated debut album, ‘Worry <’ (‘worry less’), set for release in March via the London and Johannesburg based record label Outer South.
