Tips To Keep Your Information Safe
Whether you are a business or not, keeping your information is vital now more than ever.
Your information is everything. If yo u lose it, it could mean disaster. It could mean hours upon hours of trying to recover all of it.
In some of the worst cases, when you lose your information, it could bring down your entire life. Everything you or your business works for, gone in an instance. There are ways to help you protect what you need to.
There are people out there trying to get your info, so please be prepared and practice as much safety as possible.
Mix Up Your Passwords
This one may seem like a no brainer but you would be surprised how often people use the same password for everything. You really should not be using the same password for your bank account as you do for your credit card account and email. If somehow someone gets a hold of one of your passwords, the rest of your accounts may be in trouble if that person decides to try and use it for your other accounts.
The simplest solution would be to have a list of all your passwords together. The passwords can be written on a piece of paper, in the notes section of your phone, or on your computer in an Excel spreadsheet. Just make sure you know where it is and update it when you change a password. Whatever you do, do not make your password – “Password”.
Use the Security Questions
There are times when you mix up your passwords and somehow that hacker still finds a way to access multiple of your accounts. There are so many places that ask you if you want to set up security questions. Take that option every time. You can never be too careful. There are plenty of other multi-factor authentication methods that you can use to keep your info safe. If you are using your smartphone for banking, you can set it up to ask for a password and facial recognition. The only risk with that is sometimes those phones can be really annoying when it comes to the facial recognition part. There are also places where you can set up voice passwords or even eye scanning type passwords.
Reach out to a tech professional, they will be able to steer you the right direction when it comes to finding the best ways to make sure your information is as secure as it can be. In the end, it is up to you and you alone to make sure you take the needed measure to ensure your information is safe. Do nothing and you leave yourself to the possibility of being cyber attacked and lose everything. Roughly 6.9 million accounts get hacked everyday. That translates to 158 accounts hacked every second.
Do not be a part of that statistic. Be smart. Educate yourself and make sure you take the matter seriously. It’s no laughing matter.
