    The Pandemic ‘Treat Yourself’ Craze Has Led To 19% Sales Increase In Personal Care Products

    The pandemic has been stressful on everyone leading many to channel their inner Donna Meagle and her mantra “treat yourself.”

    This can be seen pretty starkly in the increase in the sale of personal care products, which is up a healthy 19% overall from 2019.

    Leading cash-back platform Ibotta has seen a definitive rise in personal care spending. The company tracked and compared spending during July-December 2019 to what people spent in July-December of 2020 to see what has changed.

    While self-care spend overall is up 19%, here’s what they learned about its specific categories:

    • Facial Care – increased 22%
    • Personal Care – increased 22%
    • Oral Care – increased 13%
    • Vitamins – increased 23%
    • Hair Care – increased 9%
    • Diet & Nutrition Products – increased 25%
    • Bath/Body Products – increased 29%
    • Makeup – increased 9%
