There’s that moment on Sunday afternoon when it hits, what exactly? Well, it’s basically that whole “oh no, the weekend’s almost over” panic.
Like, everyone basically gets that feeling, right? That feeling that they need to relax more. Now think about it (you might literally feel this every weekend); you’re scrolling through your phone, realizing you didn’t do half the things you swore you would, and you’re low-key stressed even though you’re technically still off the clock. It’s fine. Well, yeah, it happens to everyone. When you were a kid, you probably had that same feeling, too, with school, right? Basically, everyone hates Sunday night because it’s just a giant reminder of Monday. But even so, the trick is figuring out how to actually feel like you had a break before Monday sneaks in again.
You don’t need a fancy spa day or a $400 self-care routine to recharge. Well, sure, sometimes that’s nice, but it’s not like that will realistically happen, right? But of course, there are some small things you can do here and there that’ll at least help make your weekends a bit calmer before the hecticness of work and responsibilities starts again on Monday.

Start by Cleaning Up
Okay, obvious enough, right? Well, no one’s saying you have to deep-clean the house. No one wants to scrub baseboards on a Sunday (not usually). But generally speaking, there’s something about waking up Monday and not tripping over socks that makes life feel instantly more manageable. So ideally, it might help to just put on some background music, light a candle, and reclaim your space. For some, they can only do the major chores on weekends, so just try and get that out of the way.
Put the Phone Down for a Bit
Seriously, there’s no better way to drain your soul before Monday than doomscrolling your entire evening away (and yes, that’s a serious issue nowadays). But really, the world will be fine without you for a few hours, better yet, put it in another room. It’s almost weird how quiet your brain feels when it’s not constantly buzzing. It will eventually get to the point where your own thoughts come back online, and they’re a lot nicer than whatever the algorithm had planned for you.
Indulge the Right Way
Well, with Sunday, be it the evening, afternoon, morning, whatever, you should give yourself permission to do something indulgent (guilt-free, obviously). So, why not pour a glass of wine? Why not wear that softest robe? Wear some slippers too! Go ahead and watch your comfort show on Netflix while you’re at it.
Actually, for some, relaxation even means something plant-based, for example, strains like Apple Betty are known for their mellow notes and cozy feel, the kind that match perfectly with a slow Sunday reset. Some people like to go this route, but it’s not for everyone, of course. But just relax, before the busy week starts again. You owe it to yourself.

Ease into the Night
Well, if it wasn’t already the evening in the paragraph above. But it can help to just end the day like you’re setting up your future self for success. Like you could look into getting some fresh sheets, clean pajamas, maybe a shower that lasts a little longer than usual. Why these? Well, it’s more about feeling ready for bed instead of scrolling until your eyes hurt.
