Expert Tips From A Veterinarian On How To Brush Your Dog’s Teeth
Did you know that 70% to 80% of dogs and cats will likely have some form of gum disease by the age of three?
Clearly, there are a wide variety of benefits to keeping up with your pet’s dental routine. For example, not only does it help keep your pet’s teeth clean, but also can help with other pet health conditions. February is National Pet Dental Health Month and Trupanion, a leader in medical insurance for cats and dogs, offers up some brushing must-haves along with some training tips. Also, Dr. Caroline Wilde, staff veterinarian at Trupanion, shares some pointers on how to take care of your pet’s pearly whites.
“Brushing your dog’s teeth may be no different than brushing your teeth,” says Dr. Caroline Wilde, staff veterinarian at Trupanion.
“For example, try small circles along the gum line with a soft-bristled toothbrush, or what your veterinarian recommends. Your veterinarian most likely has ‘starter kits’ with toothbrushes and toothpaste. If not, then I would go to the pet store and buy pet toothpaste and toothbrushes, keeping the size of your dog’s mouth in mind when choosing a toothbrush. They also make little finger toothbrushes which some pet owners prefer.”

- Brush at the same time every day — getting into a daily routine will make training a lot easier

There’s something eerie yet fascinating about visiting places where significant events have occurred. On the advice of a travel buddy, I booked a tour to Chernobyl. For anyone curious, you can check it out https://chernobyl-tours.co.uk/ . The experience was organized by a knowledgeable UK team and it exceeded all my expectations, blending history with unique personal stories from the disaster.
