Amos Rex, the popular contemporary art museum in the heart of Helsinki, was the main venue of this year´s  Finland´s leading fashion event, Fashion in Helsinki.

On Friday evening 23rd of May, the museum hosted “Amos Rex SS25,” a presentation and shop by creative director Minttu Vesala featuring looks from the collections of over 50 young Finnish designers.

The designers selected for Amos Rex SS25 emphasise the range of Finnish designers working today, in terms of artistic identity, material and conceptual inquiry.

Kieran Long, Director of Amos Rex, says: “Fashion is one of the most important contemporary artistic fields, one that merges and synthesises popular culture, artistic expression and identity. We are so happy to have the work of the designers Vesala has selected showing in the iconic courtyard at our home at Lasipalatsi. We are also proud to be a part of Fashion in Helsinki and look forward to many more years of presenting the artistry of fashion at Amos Rex.”

Curator Minttu Vesala says: “The new wave of Finnish fashion is independent, progressive, and pushing the boundaries. It doesn’t come from wealth or privilege, but from creativity, courage, and freedom. We dress for necessity and for ourselves, not for others. Our modesty and the vast emptiness of the country around us fuel our creativity. Style is the canvas of our identity, our personal fingerprint. It’s the fastest way we interact with the community. The true Finnish style accumulates from the forests, the villages, the streets of Helsinki, and from within us, the people.”

“Finnish fashion is a kind of utopia. Our creative expertise in fashion is world-class. Even if we need to search hard to find fashion’s voice and significance in Finnish culture, fashion has infiltrated every corner of our life, and its impact on us is inevitable. The creators of fashion shape our world, and their work is a key manifestation of the present moment, an ever-evolving and interactive platform that merges art, science, and commerce.”

Amos Rex SS25 was a visual manifesto, sending out a loud message of our unique creativity and talent that coalesces here, a homage to new Finnish fashion and the young designers out there. Fashion in Helsinki event focuses on young designers, new and upcoming brands, innovation and creativity. Fashion in Helsinki explore the blurry edges between fashion and art.
