Johnny Marr Releases His New Album “Call The Comet”
Today, The Smiths’ guitar legend and NME’s “God-Like Genius” award-winner, Johnny Marr, released his new album “Call the Comet.”
He recently announced a Fall US tour, in support of this album.
Recorded with his band in Manchester, “Call The Comet” follows the critically acclaimed UK Top 10 albums The Messenger (2013) and Playland (2014).
“Call The Comet is my own magic realism,” says Marr. “It’s set in the not-too-distant future and is mostly concerned with the idea of an alternative society. The characters in the songs are searching for a new idealism, although there are some personal songs in there too. It’s something that people like me can relate to.”
A few days ago, Marr also released a new video for “Walk Into The Sea,” which, according to Stereogum, who premiered the video, “ebbs and flows like a post-rock song, with Marr trying on a surprisingly protomartyr-esque spoken-word delivery in the midsection before building to an achingly beautiful climax.”
