BikePlusTours Announces Unique Non-Cycling Partner Program

BikePlusTours presents a unique guided non-cycling partner program alongside its Italian Dolomites and Alps cycling tour 3-11 July 2019.

BikePlusTours will be offering an eight-day travel package to showcase the culture, beauty and diverse activities available to the cycling and non-cycling visitor to the mountains of Italy.

New for 2019, the non-cycling partner program is geared towards couples where one-person rides but the other wants to share the experience of visiting Italy. Some featured activities include a local cuisine cooking class, a visit to luxurious Terme Merano natural hot springs spa, tour and lunch at Ferrari winery famous for champagne-style wines and Michelin starred restaurant, spa treatments, shopping trips as well as allowing several opportunities to meet up with the cyclists and enjoy the spectacular scenery. The partner program will be led by a female American guide fluent in Italian.

Carolyn Maessen, Co-Owner of BikePlusTours says “The idea for the partner program came after I couldn’t ride on a tour because I was recovering from a serious accident. It got me thinking about all the great things there are to do at our cycling destinations that don’t involve cycling. Over the years we’ve had clients mention how much their partner would love to come along, but nobody offers a dedicated partner program. It’s exciting that we can now offer a tour where everyone gets a wonderfully unique experience of Italy.”

The eight-day guided cycling tour includes challenging rides in the Dolomites and Alps, all fully supported by the experienced BikePlusTours team. For the third year running BikePlusTours will be an official travel partner of the Maratona dles Dolomites – Enel, one of Europe’s largest gran fondos. In its 33rd year, this must do event has over 32,000 people apply through a lottery system for entry. BikePlusTours guests receive guaranteed entry to this highly sought after event. On the day we will share the closed roads with 9,000 other cycling enthusiasts.

Besides the Maratona, the trip includes two additional rides in the Dolomites and three rides in the Alps with Stelvio Pass and its 48 numbered switchbacks as the highlight. Cycling distance for the entire tour is over 300 miles with almost 50,000 feet of climbing and shorter, easier routes are offered for the toughest days.

The tour starts and ends in Venice, Italy and is limited to 20 guests. Included are eight nights in hotels with breakfasts and dinners, transfers, supported guided rides and all partner program activities. Price: $3,495 per person in a shared double/twin room, $4,290 per person single room, $5,990 per couple (one rider, one non-rider) shared double/twin room.

Company owner Pieter Maessen says “Not only does this trip include the unique combination of the jagged peaks of the Dolomites and the famous Passo Stelvio in the Alps, we now also have an industry first partner program to discover the best of these areas for a true cultural experience.” Carolyn Maessen, co-owner adds “We know we can provide the same high levels of support to our non-cycling guests as we have done to our cycling customers for 16 years. We are thrilled to offer the partner program to our loyal base of clients and hopefully entice new customers to join us.”

BikePlusTours is based in Breckenridge, Colorado and has been organizing bike trips to Europe since 2002. Owners Carolyn and Pieter Maessen are on every trip with their specialized team and know the areas they travel to extremely well. They have lived all over Europe and impart knowledge of hidden cycling roads, beautiful towns and tried and tested hotels from many years of experience.
