    Below are 100 songs you need to hear from 2018, as chosen by The Fox Magazine staff.

    Bad Habits – Madame Gandhi, Zach Witness
    A lifelong activist with a Havard M.I.A., L.A. based Madame Gandhi released this call to action jam in late 2018. She aimed to inspire the listener dance, and then go out and vote. Her uplifting rhythms and soothing harmonies are a perfect way to elevate the female voice. Madame Gandhi made viral news in 2015 by running the London marathon and has spoken at the White House. Look out for her new album, Visions in the new year.

    Still – Joshua KYEOT
    Joshua grew up in Accra, Ghana and the UK, where he taught himself to play instruments. A leading tenor in high school, he is no stranger to the type of pressure associated with live performances. Those who attend his shows describe his passion as “palpable” as he draws from a variety of musical traditions simultaneously. His style ranges everywhere from alternative soul to rock.

    Joyride – Russo
    Los Angeles based Russo, released their debut EP House With A Pool, which received rave reviews. The refreshing, 7 track EP is infused with enough energy to take the band to a new level of originality.

    Token – LISHI
    Australian singer-songwriter, LISHI (Eleanor Dunlap) released this track in early November. It is laced with beautiful melodies and subtle electronic textures in order to explore the ideas of love, loss and finding the strength to move on. Her music has been featured in numerous TV shows, ranging from ‘The Fosters’ to ‘Catfish.’ ‘Token’ is a song about/dedicated to Dunlop’s father.

    A.A.T – SG Lewis, GoldLink
    A.A.T is taken from the second phase of SG Lewis’ three-part album ‘Dusk, Dark, Dawn.’ The album chronicles the trajectory of a night out through its different mood and genres. As a tribute to youth culture, it blends disco, smooth electro, and funk. ‘A.A.T.’ sets the tone of this album’s second phase ‘Dark’ with Drew Love’s ominous flavor, before the album moves into the nitty-gritty of a night’s belligerence.

    Blue Lips – Tove Lo
    Shot over 3 days the film follows the nighttime adventures of two friends Ebba (Lo) and Kit (Coto), as they blur the lines between reality, sex and their friendship, dipping in and out of induced highs, lows, nightclubs, and bathtubs. The 25-minute short features music from “BLUE LIPS” and is directed by Malia James.

    faded/2am (feat. GoldLink) – Lila Drew, GoldLink
    What started as a voice memo on her iPhone when en route to the recording studio one evening has quickly become one of the most intimate and soulful songs to emerge in 2018. Co-produced with Michael “Mighty Mike” McGarity (Lana Del Rey, FKA twigs, Miguel among others) and mixed by Grammy Award-winning Derek “Mixed by Ali” (SZA, Kendrick Lamar), ‘faded/2am’ is a stunning, minimalistic R&B jam, featuring the critically acclaimed American rapper Goldlink.

    None Of My Business – Cher Lloyd
    Following a newly inked record deal with label giant Universal Music, Cher Lloyd returned to her legion of fans with this track after a two-year hiatus. Produced by Hitimpulse whose worked with the likes of Rihanna, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding, and Zara Larsson to name a few.

    I Want You – ASHLEE + EVAN
    Ashlee Simpson and Evan Ross aka Ashlee + Evan delivered the goods once again with a brand new track titled ‘I Want You,’ available on all digital platforms worldwide.

    Summer Days – Beka Fox
    Beka Fox is a singer/songwriter from Nashville, TN who released a folk/indie pop ‘Summer Days’ EP that shocked listeners around the nation. Fueled by a mix of pop vocals, Beka’s track “Change” takes the listener to a dream state and makes them realize it is possible even in the harshest days of summer.

    Baby Don’t Talk – LÉON
    Critical acclaimed as “Sweden’s next big thing,” LÉON is ready to make her welcomed return with the release of a scorching new single, “Baby Don’t Talk” offering listeners the first taste of what’s to come from her forthcoming debut album due in 2019 via her own LÉON Recordings imprint in partnership with BMG.

    Keep Lying – Donna Missal
    American singer-songwriter and musician Donna Missal has released her debut album, ‘This Time,’ its title is taken from a track Missal co-wrote with her frequent collaborator Sharon Van Etten, an uncompromisingly honest look at living entirely on your own terms.

    I Don’t Lack Imagination – E^ST
    20-year-old Australian singer Mel Bester aka E^ST released her brand new single and undeniable summer jam, titled “I Don’t Lack Imagination.” Applauded for her “irreverent confidence” and “turning the microscope on adolescent heartbreak,” she recently teamed up with Oak Felder of crazy hitmaking duo Pop & Oak for her new song.

    Loyal to Me – Nina Nesbitt
    Amassing upwards of 100 million combined streams to date Nina Nesbitt returned with her brand new single “Loyal To Me,”  and it quickly became a fan favorite at her numerous SOLD-OUT shows. “Loyal To Me” is an infectious pop gem destined to become an empowering, no-nonsense pop anthem with a digital twist, urging love-sick listeners to take the reigns both on-and-off-line.

    Wild – Molly Burch
    An album literally created during the hurricanes that ravaged Texas, First Flower, was created by LA native Molly Burch and bandmate, Dailey Toliver when they were locked away in their home and bouncing ideas off one another. The album’s lead single, the wistful, “Wild,” is a song about the desire for self-acceptance.

    Maybe 25 – Minke
    Written about the emptiness of online dating and the hold technology has over us, with an equal amount of humor and disdain, Minke has returned today with a stunning new single titled “Maybe 25.”

    Suddenly – Future Generations
    “Suddenly” is the 3rd single off Future Generations upcoming new album Landscape (Frenchkiss Records). “Sometimes things just happen the way they are supposed to and they happen all at once, but it takes a bit of patience leading up to it. Suddenly encompasses that message both in its lyrics and in the way it came about.

    Put It to Bed – JHart
    GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter, and producer JHart (AKA James Abrahart) unveiled his debut solo single last year, the emotionally-charged soul-pop anthem.

    4U – Joakim Molitor, Cher Lloyd
    British pop-starlet Cher Lloyd made a surprise return to the airwaves last June with a new feature alongside rising Swedish Producer/DJ Joakim Molitor and his latest single “4U” which follows his breakthrough single “Always Gonna Say Sorry.”

    Golden Child – Say Lou Lou
    Retreating to the hills of Los Angeles the duo Say Lou Lou, with a core team of like-minded creatives to foster a respectful and nurturing space within which ‘Immortelle’ gradually took shape.‘Golden Child’ is a stunning reminder of the girl’s musical prowess, showcasing a refreshing new sound that references the old Hollywood golden era and 70’s West Coast with its prevalent guitar licks and crisp drum fills. Written and recorded in an isolated recording studio in Beachwood Canyon in late 2017, ‘Golden Child’ is the result of an intimate creative process between the twin sisters.

    Laure – Tristan De Liege
    “Laure” was the fourth release from Tristan de Liège’s acclaimed album, “Kosame,” which is inspired by the feelings of nostalgia, peacefulness, and transience that accompany rain. For “Laure,” the L.A. based composer wanted a video that captured a sense of transience in creating something beautiful.

    Clockwise – Dylan Dunlap
    Dylan Dunlap is an internationally recognized singer/songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles.

    Broad City (feat. Rosé & Kenna Slone) – Jordn, Rosé, Kenna Slone
    The Nashville-based rapper, Jordn is claiming his place amongst the greats in the upcoming southern rap scene. His reflection on maintaining balance through the ups and downs compliments his vibey track and becomes the perfect pick-me-up for the seasonal change. The upbeat yet laid-back lyricism of Jordn’s verses is further enhanced by Pittsburgh vocal phenoms, Rose and Kenna Slone.

    Catcher in the Rye – GRANT
    Swedish artist Grant debuted the official video for her single “Catcher In The Rye.” Directed by Swedish visual artist and illustrator Michelle Eismann, the video focuses solely on rising star Grant, who dances her way through the Venus In Love inspired visual. Grant melds darkness with color in her stunning video.

    Mad Mad World – Bonnie McKee
    In the midst of a nationwide tour with renowned DJ/producer Kygo, acclaimed pop singer/songwriter Bonnie McKee released her euphoric new single, “Mad Mad World” following its premiere on Billboard.

    Nothing Matters – Benjamin Lazer Davis
    Benjamin Lazar Davis (Okkervil River, Cuddle Magic) released his debut solo album Nothing Matters, which features collaborations with Kimbra, Alex Toth of Rubblebucket, and Bridget Kearney of Lake Street Dive. The record’s charming pop sounds have been winning over fans with its soft, textured feel.

    I Need a Love Story – Marta
    Country pop artist and fashion guru, Marta, has a knack for design. In her music video, “I Need A Love Story,” which has received nearly one million views on YouTube since its release last Valentine’s Day. Marta is a young up-and-coming country singer-songwriter from Gdansk, Poland.

    Stay Off My Mind (P3GI-13 & Skott Remix) – Skott, P3GI-13
    Skott’s haunting days have transformed into those of lightness and airiness. Despite the uplifting feel of this track, “Stay Off My Mind” was written following the death of a close friend. Evolving from the haunting demeanor of her introductory tracks last year, the new music showcases a brighter side to this breakout artist who continues to impress with her smart and otherworldly lyricism and peerless vocal delivery.

    The Outfield (The Midnight Remix) – The Night Game, The Midnight
    Originally hailing from a small town outside of Boston, Massachusetts, The Night Game first entered the musical arena full-steam with their debut single “The Outfield.”

    &burn (With Vince Staples) – Billie Eilish, Vince Staples
    Billie’s newest ballad touches on loss and memories never made, accented by featured artist Vince Staples.Darkroom/Interscope Records artist Billie Eilish has released her latest track “&burn” worldwide.  Studded with heartbeat-like drums and carried on muted, airy vocals, “&burn” evokes a morose inner-monologue whose outcome is left the listener to guess between devastation and redemption.

    My Love – Until The Ribbon Breaks
    The Welsh duo released the audio and video for the second track of their sophomore album. Following the highly anticipated release of their return single “Here Comes The Feeling”, Until The Ribbon Breaks released “My Love.” Their self-titled album, released last February, was born out of Pete’s inspiring journey from rock bottom to recovery, as he details his recent transformation in a heartfelt letter to his fans.

    Only You – Parson James
    Parson James returned with his captivating and emotionally charged single, “Only You.” The video features Kupono Aweau (who toured with Madonna on her Rebel Hearts tour) and transfemme musician/actress/designer/model Neon. The video was choreographed by Lindsay Blafarb of Lindsay and Craig fame.

    Renegades – X Ambassadors
    What started with performances at open bar nights and DIY venues has become something unstoppable. The American rock band X Ambassadors, and has been dominating charts, radio stations, and playlists all around the globe.

    Sanctify – Years & Years
    Years & Years are back with an explosive new track, “Sanctify,” the first taste of their hugely anticipated forthcoming sophomore album “Palo Santo” released by Interscope Records. The track is a bold leap forward in sound and vision from Years & Years, a band intuitively connected to great, homespun British pop classicism, but now standing bolt upright on the world stage.

    Body – Sinead Harnett
    “A bittersweet song of secret loves and vulnerability, and further cements Harnett’s voice at the front of England’s R&B movement.” British singer Sinéad Harnett unveiled her latest single “Body,” with a video that seems relatively simple conceptually but aptly utilizes color to convey the intense roller coaster of emotions associated with a deeply passionate love affair.

    Yearned – JandTree
    Originally from Virginia, JandTree are bringing a new sound to Southern California. The Hip Hop duo’s single “Yearned” has the flare that will make you remember JandTree for years to come.

    Lois Lane – Porcelan
    “Lois Lane”, the official second single from R&B-Soul Chanteuse, Porcelan, is the latest delivery from the Made In Memphis Entertainment vocalist after making a mark on the music scene with her chart-topping debut single, “The Real Thing Don’t Change.”

    The beautiful ballad is based on the comic book character, Lois Lane, who is an award-winning journalist and the love interest of Superman.

    Cold Blooded Creatures – AlunaGeorge, Bryson Tiller
    Marking the band’s first independently-released project, “Champagne Eyes” a return to the deliciously twisted electronic soul that made audiences fall in love with the group’s 2013 debut album “Body Music.”

    Mistadobalina – Del The Funky Homosapien
    With over 20 titles and 30 years of activity and counting, Del is a true force in the game. He never ceases experimenting, delivering such classics as “Mistadobalina” and “Catch A Bad One” in the process, in addition to doing trailblazing work with Gorillaz and Handsome Boy Modeling School.

    Dazed & Confused – Ruel
    Since the debut of his official music video for “Don’t Tell Me” last week, teenage multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Ruel has dropped yet another soulful pop-gem titled “Dazed & Confused.” Ruel explains: “I wrote ‘Dazed & Confused’ in the front room of my Air BNB in LA last November with my friends and the song has come so far.

    Speakerphone – Kay Eye
    Emerging Chicago-based artist, Kay Eye, released his long-awaited video for his single, SpeakerPhone last year. Well worth the wait, the video stars Alabama State University alumna and two-time Sensational Stingette captain, Asia Martin, as the leading lady.

    Flaming Hot Cheetos – Clairo
    From making music in her dorm room to becoming one of the most intriguing and exciting indie-pop artists to emerge in 2018. 19-year-old student Clairo, also known as, Claire Cottrill released her official music video for her unexpected multi-million streamed viral hit song, “Flaming Hot Cheetos,” last year. Directed by Matt Dillon Cohen and shot in California, the video signifies Clairo’s first step out of the dorm room and into the beckoning global musical arena.

    Face To Face – Little Boots
    This track is featured on the EP “Burn.” This EP was collaborative project boasting some of the finest female talent in production, this record will see her shift even closer to the dance-floor, claiming a darker, more atmospheric territory while retaining her signature pop sensibilities.  The result is an electrifying fusion of forward-thinking dance production and Victoria’s trademark melodies and lyrics.

    In The Mood – Skott
    Evolving from the haunting demeanor of her introductory tracks last year, the new music showcases a brighter side to this breakout artist who continues to impress with her smart and otherworldly lyricism and peerless vocal delivery.

    Stole the Show – Kygo, Parson James
    “Stole the Show” is a single from Kygo’s debut album. It uses a show at a theatre as a metaphor for a great relationship ending.

    Road Trip – Kendall Gary
    Ambitious, charismatic, country music recording artist Kendall Gary is a singer and songwriter from Lewisville, Texas. Born with talent, she began her music journey from the early age of four when she started singing and taking voice lessons with a classically trained opera singer. Traveling all over the world for the first nine years of her life, she expanded and experimented with many genres that inspired her before finally pursuing country as her own genre. And the rest is history.

    Like A Wave (Offpeak Remix) – Heather Brave
    Bright, brilliant, and big pop music can go hand-in-hand with quirky and clever expression.     Singer-songwriter Rhiannon Giddens is the co-founder of the Grammy award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, playing banjo and fiddle. Giddens’ 2014 Grammy-nominated solo debut, Tomorrow Is My Turn, blends gospel, jazz, blues, and country, and showcases her dazzling vocal prowess.

    Twins – Cloud Castle Lake
    Sitting at 5-and-a-half minutes long, this rousing piece of work signifies a welcomed return from the critically acclaimed band. Having burst onto the scene back in 2014 with their self-released debut “Dandelion” EP, the young band has since been championed by critics across the globe.

    Faithful – BOBI ANDONOV
    Australian up-and-coming alt-pop artist Bobi Andonov possesses one of those rare powerhouse voices that both punches you in the gut and tears at your heartstrings. The young singer-songwriter radiates a full spectrum of emotions – pain, sadness, longing – all impeccably delivered through a smooth, almost effortless falsetto.

    .Doré – Peter $un
    Hailing from Richmond, VA – Peter $un delivers a perennial sound that will be hard to ignore for long. The Richmond, Virginia native “$unny” brings a different style that gives off a vibe of Chance the Rapper blended with Kid Cudi. His eclectic beat selection and raspy unique vocals bring together music that you can almost see. After performing at SXSW this year he is definitely on pace for bigger things as a writer, artist, director, producer, father, revolutionary, philanthropist & rapper.

    Better Together – Hayden James, Running Touch
    Singer, songwriter, and producer Hayden James, originally from Sydney, Australia creates R&B-influenced downtempo electronic pop music as well as more club-minded remixes. His songs typically feature dope synthesizers, delicate melodies, and sensual vocals, while his remixes for artists such as Odesza and Basecamp incorporate elements of trap and deep house music.

    Betta Fish – Moon Honey
    This track is now out on Apple Music and Spotify and is Honey Moon’s first release since the critically acclaimed 2013 debut Hand-Painted Dream Photographs, which quietly sent shockwaves throughout the underground, bubbling up with praise courtesy of The New York Times, Noisey, NPR and more. The duo includes lead vocalist, visual artist and lyricist, Jess Joy, and guitarist and composer, Andrew Martin, and together they’ve created an out-of-this-world concoction of magic that transports you to another peculiar and exciting realm of sound and vision.

    Once In A Lifetime – Single Version – The Night Game
    Originally hailing from a small town outside of Boston, The Night Game entered the musical arena full-steam with their debut single “The Outfield,” described as a “future classic” by Noisey. Released this fall, in conjunction with news of The Night Game’s worldwide record deal with Universal’s Interscope and Vertigo Records, “Once In A Lifetime” serves as the follow up to the band’s critically-acclaimed debut single, “The Outfield,” a song so infectious that it caught the attention of John Mayer, leading to his asking the band to join his North American Tour.

    Giver – K.Flay

    Lover Like Me – Off Bloom
    The trio “Off Bloom” – Mette on vocals and Mads & Alex on production – formed in Copenhagen but recently moved to London. Their boundary-pushing sound is the perfect melding of Scandinavian electro-pop and a new wave of UK and US beats with global influences.

    One Day Like This – Elbow
    Elbow have been lauded for one of the landmark Pyramid Stage performances at Glastonbury Festival, collaborated with the BBC Concert Orchestra and Manchester’s Hallé Orchestra.

    Fuckbois! – Gracen Hill
    Gracen Hill is a singer and songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee who takes melody and fuses it with raw emotion. The artist has been through a rollercoaster of experiences and emotions but embraces them to push her towards greatness in the heart of Music City.

    Don’t Change for Me – Nigel Hall
    Living in New Orleans, Nigel Hall embraces the soul music community. He’s worked with the Warren Haynes Band, Lettuce, Soulive, and numerous others, building a powerful platform for what has now become one jaw-dropping song after the next. While many people already know about Hall’s keyboard skills and powerful vocal style, it’s his solo albums that set him apart on a whole new level to what some have termed “a revelation.”

    Traveller – Humingbird
    The record carousels from the made-for-the-convertible namesake “Western Movies,” to the grinning and seductive “Hummingbird,” to the pining “When You’re Away,” which Robert penned in a caffeine binge as Jonny and Cory were dropping hundreds at a Croc’s Outlet Store.

    Starlight – Jai Wolf, Mr. Gabriel
    From violin to remixes, Jai Wolf is taking the country by storm. Sajeeb Saha balances a world of incredible talent between the powerful ripples of electronic music and hip-hop. Taking on the name Jai Wolf, this artist has garnered thousands of fans in only a short amount of time.

    Beatnik Trip – Gin Wigmore
    New Zealand singer-songwriter Gin Wigmore returns with the release of new single, “Beatnik Trip.” Written by Gin Wigmore, Steve Rusch and Mr. Hudson, “Beatnik Trip” highlights her soulful vocals against a lively foot-stomping percussion section to create a rousing and energetic summer single.

    Jet – Digitalism
    Fresh off the back of previous release “Spektrum,” the first track to be taken from the EP, the  Hamburg duo showcase their signature electronica sound across the release, building layers of high-tempo synth-tones across brooding opening chords. With a mid-track drop into faded silence, the track slowly builds again, utilizing instrumental sounds and deep horns, creating a  soundtrack-like swell that dips deep, deep into the core of Digitalism.

    Ends of the Earth – Lord Huron
    Based out of Los Angeles, Lord Huron has taken the indie folk scene by storm. What began in 2010 with the recording of three songs, quickly transformed into something that would gain rapid recognition, leading the band to tours across scorching deserts, ice-capped landscapes, and wild forests.

    Liberteens – Gabi Sklar
    Fueled by a mix of smoky vocals, blurred accompaniment, and filtered light, Gabi’s video “Liberteens” takes the listener to a dream state – a hushed yet urgent world of the here and now. Under the banner of “Forever is Today,” Gabi sings an anthem that weighs consequences against sensation, impulses against discretion – and finds rationality wanting. Hers is a vivid world of freedom without fear, memories without mistakes – at least as long as the mantra holds.

    COPYCAT – Billie Eilish
