5 Artists To Check Out At Outside Lands

Outside Lands released an incredible lineup for 2022, with an insane amount of must-see artists performing.

The festival takes place under the sun in San Francisco at the Golden State Park. As the largest independently owned music festival in the US, Outside Lands brings only the best artists to the stage. This year’s performers include SZA, Green Day, Jack Harlow, Lil Uzi and so many more.

Here are five amazing artists you must see at this year’s festival:

    1. Symba

While the name Symba may still be unknown to some, the Cali-bred rapper is now signed to Atlantic Records and has been making serious waves within the industry. He has received co-signs from Fabolous, LeBron James and Dr. Dre, and even was brought out during The Game’s album release party where he dove into an acapella freestyle.

Symba’s ability to jump on any beat and go comes from the extensive memory of verses he’s already crafted. He’s got a stellar skill to branch off to written raps and bars he comes up with on the spot. Watch him perform on Saturday.

    2. 100 Gecs

A jumble of internet humor, absurd lyrics, and deliberately over-the-top stylistic clashes, the pair’s sound is challenging to even the most open-minded of listeners. Ever since the breakout success of their debut album, 1000 Gecs last year, timelines across the world have been awash with speculation about whether or not the previously unknown band is for real. Their latest project 1000 Gecs and the Tree of Clues – a remix of their debut featuring guests like Charli XCX, A.G. Cook, and Rico Nasty – has ignited the Gecs discourse once again. Watch the duo perform on Sunday.

    3. Dixon

Steffen Berkhahn AKA Dixon is known for genre-bending compositions that blur the lines between house, jiggy broken beat and buttery soul. He’s Berlin forever, having held down residencies at Tresor, E-Werk, and Weekend and formerly A&Ring Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv imprint. Following this, he set up his own Innervisions label and worked with Georg Levin as Wahoo. Check out his amazing beats on Sunday.

    4. Cassian

Cassian is a live electronic musician currently based in Los Angeles. An accomplished producer, DJ, and mixing engineer, he has cemented his name as one of the most versatile talents to emerge from Sydney’s flourishing electronic scene. In 2018, Cassian became the first artist on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s imprint Rose Avenue, where he’s released buzzing singles “Lafayette”, “Same Things”, and “Magical” with ZOLLY (Phil Slabber of Crooked Colours). A respected and seasoned performer, Cassian has played for tens of thousands alongside the likes of Hayden James, Dom Dolla, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Yotto, while also selling out headline shows and commanding festival sets. Watch him light up the stage on Saturday.

    5. ODIE

Somewhere in between the musical spaces of hip-hop, R&B, pop, and Afrobeat exists the sound of ODIE, a genre-bending artist whose musical experiments have separated him from his peers. Born in Montreal, Canada, and raised in Toronto by Nigerian parents, ODIE has been around music his entire life. Not many twenty-somethings can rival his range, encompassing everything from stunts and flexes to heavenly melodies. Listen to his astounding songs live on Friday.
