80s Synth-Pop Duo Froyo Return With New Single And Video

80s Synth-Pop Duo Froyo Return With New Single And Video

Sydney-based synth-pop duo Froyo return with a new single accompanied by self-directed, filmed and produced video, Heart – the first release from their forthcoming EP Blue.

An emulation of some of the greatest hits to come out of the 80s with a touch of new-age pop and a whole lotta’ party, Froyo carved their own entrance into the Sydney music scene with previous releases Pride and Darling, and are back with a new track Heart out now.

Heart comes as an emotionally charged synth-pop package that will see you having a good time and feeling all the feels. It’s a war no one can run from and only the strongest will survive. “Heart is about trying to do what your heart loves versus what your brain thinks”, tells Michael (vocals/keys). “In the bigger picture of the EP’s narrative, Heart  is about learning to love again and embracing the things you love.”

“Self-loathing is something that I have always struggled with, so having this as our final track of the EP is nice because it’ll always be there to remind me of the love and resuming that comes after sadness.”

The video can only be described as a classic Froyo production. In between scenes of Michael and Allyson looking heartbreakingly somber, you’ll find some seriously impressive moves and a sunset saxophone scene to boot! With a self-dubbed “cheesy 80’s synth-pop” sound, Froyo started as a university project for Chow that required students to showcase music production skills and versatility. From thisFroyo was born with a burning desire to make music “that can soundtrack the scenes in a life story.” “If you picture yourself driving over a bridge at sunset or driving through a nicely-lit tunnel… that’s what we’re aiming for.”

Froyo has a few triple j Unearthed accolades under their belt including winning The Plot competition in 2016 and scoring a top 5 spot in the Playschool Remix competition in the same year. Their single Pride featured in the top 10 of Spotify’s Viral Charts and saw them play a Vivid Showcase for Heaps Gay as well as joining L-Fresh The Lion, Olympia, Karen and more on the lineup for the Hottest 100 Party in Parramatta, 2017. Their support tours impressively include Harts, Glades, I Know Leopard, YEO and RAAVE Tapes.
