Captivating, Expansive Indie-Folk From Murdo Mitchell: Ghosts

Murdo Mitchell takes us through a captivating emotional journey in new release, “Ghosts.”

Following up on his well-received EP Stay Nocturnal released in November 2021, which explored the complexities of addiction and navigating love amid the uncertainties of the pandemic, singer-songwriter Murdo Mitchell comes back with a deeply introspective ode to breakup and dejection with new single “Ghosts.” The fast-rising Scottish talent’s raw insight into the human condition has already garnered support from Earmilk, CLASH and XS Noize.

Murdo Mitchell’s smooth and haunting vocals move listeners through the aching emotional experience of loss and heartbreak, delving into themes of broken trust and lost promises embodied by a dark, captivating melody. “Ghosts” delivers a painful coming of age rhetoric set to a powerful, thumping beat and the heavy tension of a cold and lonely night.

When discussing the single, Mitchell said,

“”Ghosts” is about the vulnerability you open yourself up to in a relationship and the trust that both parties must have in order for it to function. But more especially, it’s probably more to the point of what happens when that trust breaks down.”

Mitchell’s team is rapidly growing, backed by a team of heavyweight representation— Pick & Mix MGMT alongside Swedish indie tastemaker label, Icons Creating Evil Art and X-Ray Touring. He has performed at some of Scotland’s most popular festivals such as T-In-The Park, Belladrum, Linlithgow Folk Festival, and the Edinburgh Fringe. He performed live in 2021 with the esteemed Gabe Coulter, Starsailor, and his close companion, Dylan John Thomas (Oslo, Hackney).
