Jensen Kirk Talks New Ethereal Album: Visions
Born and raised in South Central LA, Jensen Kirk had a very unique upbringing.
In an area where anything can happen at any time, he found a way to chase his dream and be successful at it. Originally known for his radio hit single “California Girl” and “Paper Chaser” featuring Big Sean – Jensen has released his new EP: Visions.
Visions is the evolution of his artistry, demonstrating his new sound, songwriting capabilities, and go-getter energy. Fans can expect to hear his creative ethereal beats and smooth wordplay along with production from producers Willie B, Super Miles, and OAG.
We interviewed Jensen about his upbringing, start in music, favorite inspirations, and his latest album Visions.
Where is your home originally and what city, neighborhood or country helped inspire your music?
I’m from Los Angeles, CA – South Central to be exact. The world inspires me, ambition inspires me, and execution and unique experiences inspire me. I have to be inspired far before any music is made, actually, inspiration in itself is my proof of concept that allows me to even begin with the music.

When did you start doing music professionally?
I want to say 09-2010. I had a single debut on radio Power 106.
How much has your style changed since you started doing music?
How many lawyers you got? (A lot) – 21 Savage
The answer is A lot. lol
What medium or instrument is your favorite to work with and why?
In performance, I try to use my voice as an instrument. To be able to manipulate the registers of tone, pitch & frequency of range while incorporating lyrical composition is special by any stretch of the imagination.
Tell us about your new album Visions. The project has so many bars and ethereal beats on it. What inspired this album?

VISIONS is actually an acronym for – “Value in Sight is One’s Next Success.”
The concept of this piece stems from the VISIONS I receive on a daily that is constantly being downloaded from the source, the divine, God.
In order to manage these VISIONS, I went straight to our three most privy lines of sight. Hindsight, Insight, and Foresight. I began to use all three lines of sight collectively in my writing process. In business, I’ve read that when all sights are used collectively towards a common goal, along with the fourth line of sight being Oversight. In brief, the percentage of execution is raised astronomically.
The Fox Magazine is all about inspiration, what/who inspires you the most?
Me.
What’s the best part of being a musician?
Ain’t no best part until you start making some chili.
If you want to experience the best part of anything in life get yourself some resources to build some stability and generate some passive income.
What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?
- I’m grateful for God’s presence in my life.
- I’m obsessed with sci-fi / fantasy
- I’m trash at Call of Duty right now (But I will be back!!)
- D’Angelo is one of my fav artist
- I almost had breakfast with Diana Ross
- My big bro did football numbers in the feds over some gas, (marijuana) which is legal now in almost every big city-state. He’s home now!!! (I’ll let him tell that story when he’s ready.)
What can we expect from Jensen Kirk in the future?
Getting everything I want. Receiving and accepting what’s in my favor.
