Marcel Katz Presents 8-Week-Long Salvador Dalí Exhibition

Marcel Katz Presents 8-Week-Long Salvador Dalí Exhibition

During three months, Marcel Katz Art presents ‘The Real Surreal’ at The Confidante Miami Beach.

The eight-week-long event is a Salvador Dalí Exhibition, curated by Marcel Katz and Bertrand Epaud. It will take place between November 20, 2020 and January 17, 2021.

Acclaimed Miami-based art dealership and gallery, Marcel Katz Art, has partnered with French NY-based art consultant and Salvador Dalí expert Bertrand Epaud, to debut the first-ever Dalí museum sculpture to exist in Miami, Florida, at The Confidante Miami Beach.

The historical ticketed art exhibition, coined ‘The Real Surreal’ runs for eight weeks, beginning on Friday, November 20th  through January 17th, 2021. It features a collection of rare and treasured modern paper works, bronze small-to-large-scale museum sculptures, including an iconic 10-foot 1,000-pound sculpture, ‘Saint George and The Dragon,’ by arguably one of the most famous figures in art history: world-renowned Spanish Surrealist icon Salvador Dalí. One of the rare sculpture editions is owned by Pope John Paul II as part of the Vatican’s private collection.

To enhance the guest’s experience, the exhibition has also partnered with Stella Artois as the official beer partner. All registered guests 21 and over receive a Stella Artois upon entering the exhibit.

With a joint mission to support the local arts, The Confidante Miami Beach also tapped into The Art Plug to take over its three-year running Rotating Local Art Exhibit program to curate a new selection of surrealist-inspired art pieces by artists including that of Nico SuaveNick CruzTiago MagroGrabsterLefty Out ThereABVAWijHaiiileen, and The Art Plug himself.

The iconic works is on display all throughout the property’s public spaces, including the entire first floor of the hotel, cabanas and bungalows.

“I am an exhibitionist! Dali’s influence on surrealism and culture has shown me that the creative spirit is what influences a generation of young people,” said Marcel Katz. “Nothing is out of reach. Let your imagination show you the realities of life. If you can think it, you can do it!”

If Salvador Dalí were teleported to 2020, he would find himself in one of his own works – a world of decay, confusion, and out of the ordinary. A century ago, Dalí himself lived in a reality similar to ours, filled with war and death, displacement of societies, and constant questioning of existence – which led to his influential explorations of subconscious imagery and the development of his mature artistic style.

Through ‘The Real Surreal’ exhibition, Marcel Katz Art has the incredible honor to showcase Salvador Dalí’s works on paper, bronze sculptures, and large-scale museum sculptures, in partnership with Bertrand Epaud, the official U.S. representative of Dalí Universe bronze collection.

Marcel Katz (aka “The Art Plug”), founder of Marcel Katz Art, and known for organizing some of the city’s most over-the-top experiential events, such as The Art Plug Power House, is an art agent, dealer, director, and notably the youngest authorized art dealer of Salvador Dalí.

All pieces on display throughout ‘The Real Surreal’ have been specifically chosen because they represent the surreal reality we currently live in, and our will to overcome it. Each work of art carries its own unique symbolism to represent facets of hope and survival through the unfortunate pandemic we currently face.

Salvador Dali once said: ‘The only difference between me and a madman is that I’m not mad.’

“I can relate,” said Marcel Katz. “Crazy doesn’t execute.”

“This collaboration brings to light exactly what The Confidante Miami Beach represents—an audacious and carefree, yet playful spirit and energy,” said Amy Johnson, General Manager at The Confidante Miami Beach. “We’re excited to partner with Marcel Katz to continue transforming our hotel spaces into a platform of creative expression for our Miami art community and beyond.”
