Not So Blue Monday: The Best Blue Locations Around The World

Not So Blue Monday: The Best Blue Locations Around The World

Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, is just around the corner.

To help fight the blues, the experts at SkyParkSecure have put together the top blue locations around the world. As Christmas already feels like a distant memory and people are returning to normality post-festive season, it’s no surprise that the third Monday in January has long been coined Blue Monday. This day is known pessimistically as the saddest day of the year, falling before payday and just far enough from New Year, when the seasonal highs have long worn off.

To fight the blues this year, travel experts at SkyParkSecure have put together some of the most stunning blue travel locations in the world to offer some joyous escapism during the gloom. CEO of SkyParkSecure, Martin Jones, has shared these top destinations below.

From the natural caves in Chile to the beautiful buildings in India, these blue locations should help you fight Blue Monday by inspiring your future travel plans.

    1. Santorini, Greece

Many people know Santorini as one of Greece’s most picturesque islands. With beautiful sunsets and sparkling waters, it is a perfect stop for some island hopping or a long stay.

    2. Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Blue Lagoon in Iceland is one of the most iconic spas in the world. A top tourist spot for some perfect relaxing time in the geothermal spa.

    3. Marble Cathedral, Chile

The beautiful marble cathedral cave can be found in Patagonia, Chile. Water has slowly eroded these cliffs to create the breathtaking ancient blue wonder. You can visit the natural beauty by boat; the best time to visit is between December to March.

    4. Heart Reef, Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Heart reef, located in the great barrier reef of the Whitsundays, is a heart-shaped coral formation. Its unique shape has formed naturally and can only be accessed from above via helicopter or plane.

    5. Chefchaouen, Morocco

Chefchaouen, the city in the Rif mountains in northwest Morocco, is known for its striking blue buildings and alleyways in its old town. A trip to the Moroccan mountains is well worth seeing the “Magical Blue City.”

    6. Bora Bora, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. The island is surrounded by a turquoise lagoon, creating the most beautiful blue backdrop for any relaxing break.

    7. Banff National Park, Canada

Banff National Park is located in Alberta, Canada, and is known for its vibrant blue lake, such as Peyto Lake. The stunning blue color of the lake is caused by the rock flour that flows into it during the summer months. Peyto lake is a glacier-fed lake and one of the most popular sites in the whole national park.

    8. Juzcar, Spain

Juzcar is a small village in Andalusia nicknamed “Smurf Town” due to its bright blue colorful buildings. In 2011, the white buildings in the town were painted blue to coincide with the filming of the Smurfs movie. The locals liked it so much that they decided to keep the unique blue color!
