Only 30% Of Pet Parents Bathe Their Pups Every Month, Study Reveals

Only 30% Of Pet Parents Bathe Their Pups Every Month, Study Reveals

Studies show that a dog’s skin hosts an estimated 350 bacteria per square centimeter.

Pretty good reason to bathe them! But, the results of a survey on how often pet parents bathe/groom their dogs reveal that over half of pet parents do not bathe their dogs as frequently as they should!

How often should you wash your dog? There is no one-size-fits-all answer here because different dogs need different care. However, experts generally agree that a wash every month is good practice.

    Honest Paws’ survey found that:

    • 56% of pet parents don’t bathe their dogs as frequently as they should.
    • 60% of pet parents use the sniff test when deciding to bathe their dog.
    • 95% of pet parents bathe their dogs at home.
    • Only 24% of pet parents experience no frustrations when bathing a dog.

The research also reveals that the six most common contaminants found on dogs are bacteria, fungus, dirt, feces, vomit, and dead skin cells. Common bacteria that affect dogs and contribute to disease are salmonella, leptospirosis, campylobacter, helicobacter, streptococcus, clostridia, bordetella, and E.coli.

The good news is that Honest Paws offers a fantastic 5-in-1 dog wash that cleans, conditions, deodorizes, moisturizes, and detangles all at the same time. It’s all-natural and made in the USA. They’re organic vegan, non-GMO, non-toxic, gluten-free, xylitol-free, dairy-free, corn-free, and made under human-grade regulations.
