Life Of A Samawar

Samavar is the tea brewer used to make Kahwa, the traditional green tea of Kashmir.

As Kashmiris, my brother and I were taught to make Kahwa before chai by my grandmother. A significant part of my childhood, it was one of the constant reminders of my heritage while we moved every two years. The beauty of a Samavar is not just the Kahwa it brews, but also the values it passes down through generations whilst quietly standing by watching families grow old. In this series, Samavar was personified as a grandparent who binds a family together and enjoys the warm tea together.
