Read about David Murietta Jr.’s journey from being a part of law enforcement to becoming a model, actor and social media influencer.

    Where are you from originally?

I was originally born in San Jose, CA.

What inspired you to pursue an acting career?

I have a background in Law Enforcement and Business. I worked on a few projects in San Francisco, which is where I fell in love with acting. I moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting, and later, I was introduced to the social media world. I enjoy modeling, blogging and offering tips on lifestyle and fashion through my Instagram.

Before acting and becoming a social media influencer, I have never had a career, let alone a job where I had the freedom to express myself artistically. My degrees are in criminal justice and general business, so acting and blogging are totally different fields that got me early into my pursuit of law enforcement.

I suffered a major knee injury which resulted in replacing my ACL, MCL, and meniscus, which ultimately opened other doors. I have always had a supportive family who wanted me to be happy in what I did for work instead of a steady 9-5. Deal jobs have never interested me, which I owe a great deal of transitioning and growing early on in my professional adulthood.

Blogging, brand deals, and social media influencing became a part of my daily routine, which I really enjoy between auditions. It gives my audience an insider’s look at what it is like to pursue being a working actor.

What was the best part of starring in Vicious Cycle with your wife, Alexandra Creteau?

I love working with my wife. We are always busy filming Youtube videos for our Youtube channel: Dalex Vlogs, and we also always shoot content for our Instagram pages. I think we make a pretty good team, no matter what we do.

Alexandra has more acting experience than I do, so it’s always helpful when she shares her tips and tricks with me. I can’t wait to work together on our next feature film; we’re currently writing our own screenplay.

What was one thing you did that exceeded your expectations when you began acting?

Acting, in general, is a very unique and interesting experience that will exceed your expectations no matter what!! I remember when I was just starting out,  I was working on a YouTube red series produced by Jordan Peele called Weird City. The long days started to blend together, but when you’re directed by the award-winning director himself and written into the show as a bodyguard, it became a surreal experience! Having the opportunity to act along with a star-studded cast including LeVar Burton, Yvette Nicole Brown, Sara Gilbert, Rosario Dawson, Mark Hamill, Ed O’Neill, Aquafina, and Michael Cera.

I mean, the list goes on and on! The advice, wisdom and guidance that I received from such a humble group of talented individuals realigned my focus in a way that catapulted me to the top of my acting game!

What does success mean to you? What are your rules for success?

Firstly, hard work. There is very little chance of turning your dreams into a reality if you do not start with a strong foundation of hard work.

Secondly, dedication. Oftentimes, dedication and persistence go hand in hand. I find this to be very true. In my opinion, you need to find something you are passionate about and pursue it! That way, it is easy to be persistent and dedicated over a long period of time, even on those days that you are feeling not so motivated, which leads me into my next secret.

Thirdly, patience. We have to understand that Rome was not built in a day. This is a commonly-used phrase, but it holds a lot of truth as well. If you have consistency, persistence and take pride in your content, whatever it may be, I guarantee that you are on a unique path that leads to success.

Last but not least, being open-minded. Things rarely go according to our plans. Not only is it important to have a backup plan, but have an open mind. Be open to criticism and opinions. Regardless of what you do for work, I feel like we have to be ok with the fact that we are not perfect at what we do. Other people may have golden advice, and we will never be able to take that constructive criticism if we are not open-minded.

What trends are you most excited about for 2022?

As a lifestyle and fashion influencer, I must say I am excited about vests, varsity jackets and strong collars. I definitely will be incorporating these trends into my fashion looks on my page.

Do you have any tips or tricks for achieving an aesthetically awesome Instagram page? Any social media tips?

    Sure, I have a few:

    • Know your audience first. So, you can decide what type of content you should post.
    • Have a theme.
    • Design for the grid – and then, break it.
    • Edit your images before posting. In my opinion, only stories can be posted without editing.
    • Choose a consistent color scheme.

The Fox Magazine is all about inspiration, what/who inspires you the most?

I would say successful stories. They motivate me to work harder to achieve my goals.

What’s something people would be surprised to learn about you?

Haha, well probably that I am the shortest in my family. I am 6’2 and all males in my family taller than me.

What is your favorite or original innovation-related motto, quote, or words to live by?

Take a moment to listen to others, whether it be a friend, family member, partner, or a complete stranger. We have strayed so very far away from being united as one common human race. We are all brothers and sisters. We need to all come together and support one another, not spread negativity and hate. There are those who talk about change and unity…

These are the voices we need to listen to and support. Our past relatives all lived with one another in the past. We all live alongside each other today and our children in the future. Think of our relatives and what they sacrificed. Remember where you came from.

What are your favorite inspirations and why?

My father is very excited about his work and he encourages me too. I take his views into account always.

What do you hope to change with your work & success?

When enough people change themselves for the better, the world will naturally follow and change for the better.

I hope to motivate and inspire my audience to change for the better and become the best version of themselves.
